BGF Top Ten Goal-Getters 2009

10. David Beckham hasn’t been doing very well lately until he went to San Siro where his fist goal was absolutely magnificent. As well as that amazing goal you’ve probably seen some of his earlier work. His most famous goal was at the game against Greece. Greece was up by one and Beckham smashed home a free kick in the 93rd minute saving England from defeat.

9. Alexandre Pato has only recently come to my attention. When I noticed that he was associated with Beckham’s first goal at AC Milan I felt reluctant to research him further. If you watch some videos of him your mouth will hang open. The Brazilian will no doubt be noticed more and more as the games go by.

8. One of the Arsenal players, Theo Walcott, is one of those players who shine but never get praise. This kid is one of the fastest players I’ve ever seen and I always wonder when he’ll go somewhere else. I thought he’d be at one of the big clubs and not sitting and the substitute bench at Arsenal.

7. Ryan Giggs is one of the most experienced players in the premiership. He is very under-rated and I believe he’s one of the greatest welsh players ever to walk the planet let alone the football pitch. He scored a wonderful solo goal way back when, which would make George Best proud.

6. Cristiano Ronaldo. An absolute clown in my opinion but he is good and charging into the box. He’s scored a few good goals but he’s an over-rated pompous fool. Feel free to disagree but he’s missed as many shots as he’s scored. But when he does score I have to admit he does get the job done.

5. Steven Gerrard is the free kick king in my books. He’s has a very accurate power shot and can score from miles out. Most of his goals are simply amazing if you the bend and the power mix together to create something magical.

4. Ronaldinho used to be the best in the world until Kaka came along. He’s that special player who can dance around the opposition. Fancy is the right word to describe him. If you watch some of his freestyle videos he’s bloody good.

3. One of my favourite players, Wayne Rooney is slightly under-rated. He’s gotten really good at volleys and bringing the ball down to his feet. “A volley of real venom,” As they described his legendary goal against Newcastle. Rooney might be slightly stocky but he’s one of the best strikers in the prem.

2. Ricardo Kaka is in second. There’s no need to explain why he’s second because he’s just plain brilliant.

1. The number one BGF Goal-Getter of 2009 is a striker named Fernando Torres. He has came a long way since last year when he was in 6th. But this guy has proven himself time and time again. If you played for Liverpool you can imagine how hard it would be to shine among the best in the world but this man has exposed his brilliance towards football on more than one occasion. He brings class, wins, and of course goals to Anfield and the whole world.
